We closed our spring ball season a little over two weeks ago with our annual spring game. Through our 15 practices that started on February 28, the Yellow Jackets saw tremendous growth on both sides of the ball. The defense, under the guidance of 5th year defensive coordinator Anthony Kerr, added some new wrinkles to a very athletic group of ball-hawking, pursuing young men. The offense, under the direction of 1st year offensive coordinator Mitch Dahlen, took huge strides each week as they worked on the details of the new scheme. Although the weather limited us to only a part of our field, it did not detract from the enthusiasm or excitement for the spring game. It was a great day that saw both the Green and White teams have big stops on defense and big plays on offense, and most importantly we came out injury free!
The team will now transition into their summer workout phase and I have no doubt this group will be putting work in to erase the bad taste that was left in their mouths from last season! There is a different feeling about this team and a little chip on their shoulder as well.
Our motto adopted for the 2019 season is "The Response" and this group of student/athletes has answered that call through winter conditioning and spring ball and has everyone looking to what is in store for this season.
More to come throughout the summer from players and coaches, so stay tuned!
