Christmas Break is Here

The Lady Elks head into Christmas break with a 2-2 record at the varsity level. Wins over Arlington and Colman-Egan with losses coming to Castlewood and Sioux Valley. The Lady Elks will be back in action on January 4th in Lake Benton against ORR. The JV Lady Elks are 2-4 on the season. They play again on the 4th as well. The Elk boys are struggling out of the gate, going 0-4, albeit against 4 very good teams: Arlington, Castlewood, Chester, and Colman-Egan. These teams are a combined 12-2 on the season. The Elks are finally starting to get healthy so the break comes at a time they can regroup and head into an Entringer Classic matchup against Dell Rapids St. Mary on December 30th. Otkin Hits Milestone

Callie Otkin, senior guard for the Lady Elks, surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career on Monday night in the ELB game against Castlewood.

Castlewood takes down Elks and Lady Elks

JV Teams' Update

Boys JV team took down Arlington 48 to 41 in their season opener on Friday night. They turned around and downed Castlewood on Monday night to move to 2-0. The Lady Elks JV team took down Arlington Friday evening as well. ON Saturday, they went 1-2 at the Kayla Cleveland Memorial tourney in Lake Preston. Monday, the Lady Elks JV lost to Castlewood. Their record now stands at 2-3 on the season.

Elks drop opener to Arlington

ELKTON — Elkton-Lake Benton cruised to a 70-57 Dakota Valley Conference boys basketball win over Arlington on Friday. Matthew Nibbe and Grant DeRuyter each netted 14 points to top the Elks (1-0 overall and in the DVC). Marcus Harming added 10 points and six rebounds and Devin Sopko had nine points and six boards. Will Parry’s 25 points topped the Cardinals (1-0 and 1-0). Devon Heuer added 17 points and Casey Stegeman had 11. Lady Elks take down Cardinals

Elkton-Lake Benton 48, Arlington 42 ELKTON— The combination of Rachel Colgrove and Callie Otkin led Elkton-Lake Benton to a 48-42 victory over Arlington in a Dakota Valley Conference girls basketball game Friday. Otkin scored 18 to lead the Elks (1-0 overall and in the DVC). Colgrove contributed 17 points and Samantha Schindler eight. Madysn Gilbertson led the Cardinals (0-1 overall and in the DVC) with 11 points. Makayla Nelson added nine and Marissa Baker eight.
