Spearfish Girls Basketball

It’s Not About Me. It’s About We.

About Us

The Spartan Win Club is a great place to get program information, schedules, records, and information on the girls’ basketball program in Spearfish. It will also provide information for all the teams in the HS program and their progress during the season. The donation for this program access will go toward the development of opportunities for all of our year long program needs. This includes camps, gear, team meals, and program equipment needed for skill development in the off season.

Season Coming to a Close

Posted 02/09/2018

Hard to believe that the end of the season is in sight. The girls have really played well against our toughest competition as the calendar turns to February. Some recaps: The varsity has had some great wins and some tough losses. We beat Sturgis in OT, 68-64, and also chalked up wins against Lead/Deadwood, 46-25, Huron, 50-38, and Custer, 59-46. We also had some hard losses to RC Stevens, 39-54, and to Mitchell, 59-45. The JV, C-Team, and Freshmen have also been improving every game. It has been great to see the younger kids really making great strides. It has been awesome to see the younger girls become more and more confident as the year has progress. We only have four games left and the playoffs will begin. Right now we are the #12 seed but if we end the season strong, we could possibly work our way up the rankings and maybe host a playoff game! That would be great! Thanks again to all of you who have donated to the cause and helped the team out with many things throughout the year. We really do appreciate it.

MId-Season Update

Posted 01/17/2018

Been a couple of hectic weeks around the school with many basketball games and finals for the semester as well, so we haven't updated the new in a while so here we go!! On January 5, the girls completed a sweep of the Hot Spring Bison, with the varsity capping off the night with a 48-16 victory. The next night versus the Douglas Patriots, the Spartans also swept all three games, The JV won 52-27 and the C Team won 53-11. The varsity scored a season high 69 points in a 69-42 win. The Belle Fourche Broncs came to town on January 9 with an undefeated record, both the C-Team and the JV continued their winning ways, JV 40-36 and the C Team 42-31. However the varsity fell just short, losing 28-39. Girls played hard but just couldn't make the plays they needed when they had the chance. Most recently on January 16, the Spartans, once again, completed yet another sweep, this time over the Hill City Rangers. The JV won 43-28 and the Freshmen won 48-18, and the varsity completed the night with a 62-39 win. Still a lot of season left to play, so make sure you support the girls in any way you can. Also many thanks to all the donors who have contributed to the team's efforts now and in the future.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! The Spartans only had one game over the Christmas break, losing a heartbreaker down in Red Cloud, 46-47. We haven't managed to win a varsity game yet this season, but the girls are working extremely hard and we have improved every game. That first win is hopefully just around the corner. The JV also dropped a game in overtime down in Red Cloud after tying the game with just 6 seconds left in regulation. The Freshmen continued their winning ways with a convincing 10 point win at Red Cloud. This weekend brings the Hot Springs Bison to Spearfish on December 5 with the JV tipping off at 3:30, followed by the C-Team at 5:00, and the Varsity at 6:30. The Douglas Patriots come to town on December 6. JV start the day at 11:30, then the C-Team at 1:00 and the Varsity tip at 3:00. Hope to see everyone there!

Season Openers

Posted 12/14/2017

The season began on December 8 & 9 with the JV and Varsity taking on SF Roosevelt and SF O'Gorman, while the C Team went over to Upton to play in a tournament there. The C-Team did a great job winning 2 of their 3 games, especially considering we played against varsity competition from Wyoming. The JV also had a great weekend winning both of our games in close fashion. The Varsity had a rougher go of it, losing both of our games but we learned a lot about what we need to improve on and are excited to get back at next week against Sturgis.
