The Yankton Boys Basketball team has started the “Yankton Buck 3 Point Club.” We hope to bring together our patrons and provide a more personal feel for all of our fans. Every year our team purchases things above and beyond what the tax payer dollars provide for our team. Things like travel gear, new uniforms, a second meal on big road trips, team camps, and various pieces of equipment. Become part of our 3 Point Club and receive all the benefits of being a member.
Yankton Buck Supporters,
Thank you for deciding to help our program this year! We appreciate all the help you give us. The school does a great job of providing most things that we need. We are very lucky to have the resources we do. However, there are things we feel are important that we need to do that the tax payers don't necessary need to pay for. Things like travel gear, going to team camps, hosting team camps, big equipment purchases such as the shooting gun or the Noah, nice team banquet at the end of the season, providing a secondary meal on long trips, etc... These are the types of things that we fundraiser for.
Last season we looked very sharp on all of our road trips in our travel gear. We feel that having team travel gear helps us represent Yankton and Yankton High School in a positive manner. For example, when we walked into the Denny Sanford Arena Saturday night before the state championship game it was nice that we looked like a team in our travel gear supporting our school colors. Our coaches, players and managers take pride in representing Yankton. Thank you for helping us do this with your donations.
We took our varsity team to two main team camps this past summer. First, we went to Creighton University in Omaha. A couple weeks later we went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence. We played in the top division at both camps and played teams for Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota and even a team from Texas. We even got to play a game in Allen Fieldhouse, one of the iconic gyms in the world! These are experiences that our guys will remember for a lifetime. Once again thank you for helping make this possible!
We hope you enjoy your experience following us on Give-Step this year. New this year, you will get a notification every time we post something new on our site. We hope to post a couple times a week this season just to keep everyone informed on what is going on with the team. Look forward to sharing this season will all of you.
The fall sports are over. The air is colder. Must mean it is time for basketball season! The Bucks are in the midst of preparing for the 2018-2019 season. We just finished up helping the 2nd-8th graders the last four weeks at our Fall Basketball Academy. Our high school players did a great job with the youngsters. Currently we are getting through our pre-season meetings, having some open gyms and getting in shape for practice. First practice will be Monday, November 26th at 6:15 AM. We will have two-a-days for the first week or so. Our goal is to get in 15 practices and 1 scrimmage before our first game.
We have an exciting start to our season this year. We open up Friday, December 7th at Spearfish and turn around the next afternoon and play at Rapid City Stevens. That means we start the season with an overnight road trip to the Black Hills! Win or lose this will be a great chance for us to spent a lot of time together right away as a team and build some chemistry. Hopefully we can see some Red in the stands also!!!! Hope to see you there!
Young Bucks basketball camp is next week at the high school on Monday and Tuesday from 5:00-6:15 PM. It is for boys in Kindergarten through 5th grade. All participates will be eligible to be a ball boy at a varsity home game this season.
